Step 11: Responding to Discovery (if applicable)
Discovery is the process where both sides can ask questions (interrogatories) and request evidence (production of documents). Each side can also demand that the other side “admit or deny” certain facts related to the case. Only about 25% of cases receive Discovery.
- If you receive Discovery:
- You typically have 5 calendar days to respond (plus 2 days if the documents were sent by overnight mail or 5 days if the documents were sent by regular mail). Immediately email the plaintiff, or their attorney (if represented), to request a 2-week extension.
- Text your PIP to your Team at 10 AM (Monday–Friday) when you receive it. At the end of your PIP, say: "I have received Discovery."
- Plan to attend the very next Discovery class in person.
- Your Team should schedule time so that they can help you with the “Admissions.” If they don’t, ask about it during the Discovery class.
Classes: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 12 PM–2 PM (hybrid online & in-person).
- If attending in person, arrive by 10 AM to receive templates.
- View Our Class Schedule Here. The schedule opens in a new tab so you can continue working through your 18 Steps.
