Conclusion & Final Checklist

We are training and empowering you to be your own lawyer. Good lawyers succeed because they are prepared:

  • They listen carefully.
  • They pay attention.
  • They take thorough notes.
  • They follow instructions.

Be your own excellent lawyer:

  • Memorize your case number and opposing counsel’s name.
  • Know the reason for your eviction (see the notice attached to the complaint).
  • Understand your defenses by reviewing your Answer.
  • Watch Video 2E and identify the evidence and witnesses you need to prove your case.
  • Know the facts of your case thoroughly.
  • Come to the Opening Statement Class on Thursdays from 10-1 to learn how to write a winning Opening Statement that clearly explains the case to the jury.
  • Remember: Success depends on the facts, the law, and which side is better prepared.

Key Reminders:

  • Watch the videos and attend TEP classes consistently.
  • Follow all 18 Steps to Victory.
  • If your case is dismissed but you want to stay, continue paying your rent:
    • Bring rent in certified funds or money orders to each court appearance.
    • If rent is rejected, keep saving it and try to pay it each month on the due date.
    • Pay it immediately and no later than the third day, if you receive a new 3-day notice. Bring a witness.
    • Prepare for the next case by attending class and reviewing the 18 Steps again.
    • Remember: Court procedures change constantly. Don’t be the TEP student who wins 3 times, gets cocky, tries to do it alone, and loses.

When we fight, we win! And while winning is not guaranteed, preparation significantly increases your chances.
