Step 15: Prepare for Your “Meet & Confer”
If you have followed our instructions so far, you should have a complete and up-to-date binder.
When the other side sends you their trial documents (Statement of the Case, Witness List, Exhibit List, Jury Instructions, Verdict Form):
- Text your Team that you need a Step 15 meeting to merge binders.
- Text your PIP daily at 10 AM (Mon–Fri) until you get an appointment.
- End your PIP with:
“My next court date is [DATE]. My Meet & Confer deadline is [DATE]. I have the Plaintiff’s Trial Binder. I need a Step 15 meeting?”
- End your PIP with:
Important notes:
- There is no guarantee an attorney will be available to review your binder.
- You can “fly standby” for a Step 15 if needed (come without an appointment). Do this 3 days before your deadline.
- After review, we’ll scan and email your trial binder to opposing counsel and file it with the court.
- We will place a copy of the proof that this was done in the left pocket of your binder.
- You will also receive an extra copy of the binder for the judge (cost $25).
- If the other side claims that you have not cooperated with the Meet and Confer Process, you can show the judge your proof.
